What is the most useful information for comparing care providers?

The Department of Health has launched two online surveys seeking views on the information that should be included in the new Provider Quality Profile online tool.

This tool allows users to search and compare any Care Quality Commission (CQC) registered home care, residential or nursing home provider.

The Provider Quality Profile was launched as part of the Caring for our future White Paper in July 2012. It allows users to search for local providers within an area and link to CQC reports and information about the provider.

The service is being extended to include, by April 2013, a range of additional information about the quality of care providers such as:

  • information about facilities and services
  • online comments from service users and carers pooled from external websites
  • views of localHealthwatch
  • progress against key measures of quality
  • information about quality charter marks and assurance schemes

Providers, commissioners, service users, carers and the public have the opportunity to complete a 10 minute survey on what information would be most useful to include on the Provider Quality Profile (PQP).

The surveys ask:

The online survey will run until 5pm on Friday 2nd Nov and views will be used to inform what information appears on the PQP available for the end of this year.
