The national Leadership Qualities Framework for Adult Social Care, as announced by Norman Lamb, Minister for Care Services, at the National Children’s and Adults’ Services Conference last week, has been published by the National Skills Academy for Social Care.
The framework describes, in a clear and accessible way, what good leadership looks like in different settings and situations, and illustrates the attitudes and behaviours needed for high quality leadership at every level of the sector. It focuses on the values that provide the foundations of leadership, building on research undertaken by the Skills Academy with managers, practitioners, people who use services, and their carers and advocates.
The framework will be a significant tool for developing leadership, which will be key to realising the reform plans set out in the government’s White Paper, Caring for our future: reforming care and support, published last summer.
