This week National Voices, the national coalition of health and social care charities and its members, has launched a consultation on what constitutes high quality, person-centred and coordinated (‘integrated’) care.
This work has been commissioned by the NHS Commissioning Board (NHSCB) and is supported by the Department of Health, the Local Government Association and Monitor. Agreeing a description for good, person-centred and coordinated care is essential so that the Department and its partners can work together to make it a reality for people using health, care and support services. The NHS Future Forum has previously highlighted the need for this agreed description so that both the public and professionals share a common and meaningful understanding of it.
The result is a narrative that will form the foundation of a framework, co-produced by the Department and the national partners listed above. The Department committed to doing this in the Care and Support White Paper ‘Caring for our future’ published last July.
